Potential explosive device 'not viable' and removed by Vernon RCMP

An object resembling an explosive device found in Vernon on the weekend has been safely removed, Vernon RCMP says. 

On Sunday, Oct. 3, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP secured an area in the 3400-block of 32 Street Vernon after an object resembling an explosive device was found in an alley and reported to the police. The B.C. RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit removed the object and has deemed the object "not viable" and safely disposed of it. 

The area is now open to public access.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone who may have information related to the device is asked to call the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171.
