WEST KELOWNA - Police have widened their warning about a lug nut loosener to include West Kelowna after a Shannon Lake woman's front tire came off while she was driving on the highway on Friday.
According to a press release, on May 28 police received a complaint about a Shannon Lake woman whose front driver's side tire fell off while she was driving home on May 25. The woman was driving at slow speeds and was unharmed in the incident. She took the car to an automotive shop where she learned about the apparent sabotage to her vehicle's lug nuts.
Police received a similar report on May 14 about three vehicles parked in the 6200 block of Winton Crescent in Peachland having their lug nuts loosened during the night. One vehicle also had its gas syphoned from the tank.
"These reckless acts compromised each of the vehicles and placed at least four lives at unnecessary risk,” stated Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey in the release.
Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
