Police watchdog investigating after Enderby arrest leaves man in hospital

Enderby RCMP Office

The B.C. police watchdog is investigating after a man arrested by the RCMP in Enderby had to be transported to hospital with a serious injury.

According to a Nov. 26 Independent Investigations Office of B.C. media release, the incident took place Nov. 24 in Enderby.

The Investigations Office says RCMP arrested a man following a disturbance in the 100 block of Larsen Avenue at roughly 11:20 p.m. Nov. 23.

The man was released early the next morning but shortly afterwards another disturbance was reported near a residence on Garrett Road involving the same individual.

RCMP then arrested the man and took him to the Enderby detachment cells.

The man was then transported to hospital where he was found to have sustained a serious but not life-threatening injury.

No details are given regarding the nature of the injury or how it may have come about.

The Independent Investigations Office has now opened an investigation into the matter.

No other information has been provided.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is an independent civilian oversight that investigates all police officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
