Police still on the lookout for armed and dangerous suspect wanted for Vernon shooting

VERNON - Police are renewing an appeal to the public for help locating a wanted man described as armed and dangerous.

Police say Tyson Darryl Cole, who is wanted for attempted murder in connection to a shooting incident last month in Vernon, has still not been apprehended. The RCMP first issued a wanted alert for Cole on May 29.

RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett says in a media release Cole may be in the Okanagan or surrounding areas, and also has connections around the Cariboo and Lower Mainland.

“Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP have made several attempts to locate Cole, however have been unsuccessful,” Brett says in the release.

Cole was charged in relation to a May 1 incident in Vernon where a 21-year-old Vernon man was shot. The man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Court documents show Cole faces nine charges in relation to the May 1 shooting including attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent to wound, pointing a firearm, careless use or storage of a firearm and several other counts related to guns.

Police reiterated today, June 7, that Cole is considered armed and dangerous, and say you should not make contact with him or try to apprehend him. Police have also released photos of Cole's tattoos.

He’s described as African American, 5’8”, 165 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. While police have not released his age, court records show he was born in 1987.
