PENTICTON - Police responded to reports of a mail theft south of Penticton today, only to find the suspects throwing stolen property and weapons out of the vehicle as they tried to make their get away.

Community Policing Coordinator Rick Dellebuur says unconfirmed reports of mailbox and residential theft in the Twin Lakes area prompted a police response to the area this morning, Dec. 23.

“I can’t really say too much about it at this time, but I do understand they are out there with the dog. I don’t know how many they’ve caught, but I do understand that they were after some individuals who were throwing stolen property, even weapons, out of the vehicle as they tried to evade police,” Dellebuur says.

Dellebuur could only confirm some individuals have been arrested for thefts in the area, but with charges pending no further information is available just yet.

infoNEWS.ca has been able to confirm mailbox thefts were reported in the Twin Lakes area today.

We’ll have more details as they become available.
