Police report string of Vernon beauty salon break-ins

There has been a series of business break-ins targeting the beauty industry in Vernon.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP investigators have responded to more than a dozen reports of business break-ins since Dec. 15, according to a press release from police.

Most of the businesses have been salons and the burglar, or burglars, have been smashing through doors or windows to get inside after hours.

“In some of the cases, the business was found insecure by a passer-by who reported it to police,” Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release. “The amount of damage done by these suspects to break into the property is often far greater than anything they steal from inside.”

Police are continuing to investigate the string of break and enters. RCMP have asked anyone with information to contact them at 250-545-7171, or tips can be left anonymously at Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477, or going online. Police said anyone who gives a tip that leads to an arrest could get a cash reward.
