Police on hunt for suspects after two sexual assaults in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP are looking for suspects after two separate sexual assaults were reported.

One was reported Monday and the second on Wednesday after two young women were approached from behind and sexual assaulted during the day, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Nov. 16.

“Fortunately, neither victim was physically injured as a result of the assaults, but these attacks can come with considerable emotional trauma,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Police were called to the 2000-block of Dunrobin Place on Nov. 25, around 5:35 p.m., where a woman said she was assaulted while walking up stairs between Aberdeen and Dunrobin Drive.

Police dogs searched the area, but they could not find a suspect.

The suspect is described as a male between 25 and 30 years old, standing about 5'8" to 5'10" tall.

He had hair below the ears, with a dark beanie and an "unknown red coloured item" around his neck.

“If you saw or have any surveillance footage of a suspicious person in the area, particularly between 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. along Van Horne Drive or Aberdeen Drive, please connect with police as soon as possible,” Evelyn said.

In the Sahali area, police were told about a similar assault on Nov. 22 around 3:30 p.m.

RCMP say the victim, who was a youth, was sexually assaulted from behind while her back was facing a fence.

The suspect was seen heading toward Columbia Square on Notre Dame Drive. He was described as wearing a blue toque with ear flaps, a mask and blue jeans with a blue jacket.

At this time, police are unclear whether the same suspect is involved in the separate incidents.

Any information, surveillance or dash cam footage related to either investigation can be forwarded to Kamloops RCMP after contacting them at 250-828-3000.
