Police looking for driver in West Kelowna road rage incident

One man was taken to hospital after two pickup truck drivers dueled in a road rage incident in West Kelowna yesterday.

A black truck was following a green Toyota Tacoma across Bennett Bridge into West Kelowna on Monday morning, where the pair were brake checking and shouting at each other, according to a West Kelowna RCMP news release.

The black truck followed along Highway 97 onto Byland Road, where he then cut off the green Tacoma.

"The driver exited his vehicle, opened the door of the other vehicle and immediately started punching the victim in the head," the news release reads.

Passersby later found the victim face down in a ditch on the 1500-block of Byland Road and helped him until first responders got to the scene.

The B.C. Ambulance Service called West Kelowna RCMP around 7:30 a.m., Sept. 13, as paramedics took the victim to Kelowna General Hospital.

The victim was being treated for "undetermined" injuries, according to RCMP.

Police are now looking for the driver of the black truck, but are hoping he will come forward on his own.

RCMP say he is a "person of interest," and is described as about 6' tall, in his 30s and has a clean appearance.

Witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage can contact RCMP at 250-768-2880.
