UPDATE: Police investigating after body found south of Penticton

Police have cordoned off a section of Willowbrook Road south of Penticton as they investigate a body found nearby yesterday morning, Jan.17, 2017.

PENTICTON - RCMP remain tight-lipped about the discovery of a body in the White Lake area south of Penticton yesterday.

Officers continue to man a roadblock at White Lake Road and Willowbrook Road today, Jan 18, where a body was found yesterday.

“Investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, Police Dog Services and the Forensic Identification Unit were called to assist with the investigation,” Cpl. Janelle Shoihet says in a media release. "The identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed."

The area is located just south of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, in an unpopulated area with few residences in close proximity.

RCMP won't comment further on the death, other than to say there is no risk to the public.
