Police catch up with dangerously driven stolen pickup in Kamloops

A Kamloops elementary school was locked down this afternoon as police chased down suspected truck thieves.

Police started receiving calls about a stolen pickup truck heading from Vernon to Kamloops at around 2 p.m. today, Dec. 18, according to an RCMP media release.

The stolen truck was found on fire at the Sahali mall.

RCMP said an elementary school in the area was placed on a hold and secure as officers chased down the suspects with the help of a police dog.

The suspects are known to police and remain in custody as the investigation continues.

Anyone who witnessed, has video or dash cam footage, or information related to this incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-44277.
