PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP managed to catch an alleged crook in the midst of a residential break and enter following a tip from a neighbour last week.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said a resident of Young Street in Penticton called police on July 4, after hearing banging coming from the unit next door to the 400 block address.
The resident was aware the neighbours were away.
Police arrived at the residence to find the front door pried open and a man still inside. He fled out the back patio door where a struggle ensued before police were able to take the man into custody.
Matthew Toker, a 41-year-old Fairview Road resident, was charged with one count of break and enter with intent, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Toker is being held pending a court appearance tomorrow, July 12.
