Police call in armoured vehicle to search Kelowna property

KELOWNA - Kelowna RCMP needed help from the emergency response team and its armoured truck to carry out a search warrant on a Lawson Avenue property today.

Officers with the Kelowna street enforcement unit executed a search warrant at a home on the 1000 block of Lawson Avenue on today, May 24, according to an RCMP media release.

The search was part of an ongoing investigation. RCMP haven't released any details about the investigation.

Members of the emergency response team joined the search and they used an armoured vehicle during the operation. Traffic on Gordon Drive was disrupted for public and police safety as the warrant was executed, police say.

A 34-year-old man, who is well-known to police, was taken into custody at the scene. He could face charges, but RCMP don't say what those charges might be.

RCMP say the search of the home and the police investigation are ongoing at this time.
