OKANAGAN - Okanagan valley residents can look forward to sunshine and mild temperatures this weekend.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says a high pressure system building over the valley will make for “fairly boring weather” over the weekend, with the above normal temperatures dropping to more seasonal norms by the end of the weekend.

The forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 2 Celsius today, Jan. 10, in the Okanagan. Temperatures will dip to -2 C overnight but will feel more like -4 C with the windchill.

Tomorrow will see a sun and cloud with a high of 2 C and an overnight low of -4 C.

On Saturday expect both sunshine and cloud with a high of 0 C. Sunday and Monday will be mainly sunny with highs both days of around -2 C.

Normal temperatures this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of around -2 C and lows of about -8 C.

Sekhon says it’s been pretty dry so far this January. With a third of the month over, Penticton has received less than two millimetres of precipitation, when the city normally receiving 27 mm for the whole month. Sekhon says there are no major weather systems on the horizon for at least the next week.
