Plan for some rain across the Okanagan

Kalamalka Lake in Vernon.

OKANAGAN - Wildfire crews in the Okanagan should get some help from the weather this weekend because rain and cooler temperatures are in the forecast.

Across the Okanagan, people should plan for rainy weather tomorrow and Saturday, according to Environment Canada.

However, the rain is not expected to stay. Next week is predicted to be sunny with temperatures in the mid-20s.

Today, Sept. 7, Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud across the Okanagan. Smoky conditions are expected to remain due to wildfire activity in the area and there is still a special air quality statement in effect. Vernon should expect local smoke, however, widespread smoke is predicted for Kelowna and Penticton. The high today is expected to be around 27 Celsius.

Temperatures tomorrow will be around 23 C and forecasters say there is a 60 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon for Kelowna and Vernon. Penticton also has rain in the forecast with a 40 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon.

On Saturday there is a 60 per cent of showers with a high of 20 C expected across the Okanagan.

There is no rain in the forecast on Sunday, however, it is likely to remain cloudy with a daily high of 21 C.

The beginning of next week is predicted to be sunny with temperatures reaching 25 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of 21 C and lows of 8 C.
