PENTICTON - Photographers of the South Okanagan got out their cameras in response to the Sep.t 21 launch of a photography contest sponsored by Tourism Penticton.

The organization announced the winners of their “Escapes & Landscapes Photography Contest" on Oct. 19, selecting the top three photos from more than 130 entries.

Doug Cox took first place honours, followed by second place finisher Bruce Gartrell. Third place was taken by Chris Cornett.

Jo Charnock, spokesperson for Tourism Penticton, says the city gets many requests for photographs of the area. The top three finishers will have their photographs featured on the Tourism Penticton website along with a credit caption.

“It was a difficult decision. We want to assure all the other entrants their images will be used for marketing and promotional pieces and photographers will receive recognition wherever possible."

The first place finisher will receive a Tourism Penticton gift pack valued at $500 in addition to an enlarged, framed copy of their winning entry and a highlight in the upcoming 2016 Tourism Penticton Experience Guide.

A formal prize presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m at the Wine Country Visitors Centre on Vees Drive.
