Due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed on the Central Okanagan, attendance at the Perseids meteor shower event in Kopje Regional Park in Lake Country is limited to 50 registered people and those spots have now been taken.

“On Thursday, Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m., parking attendants will be restricting park access to only those who have registered for a time slot at the event and will turn away any drop-ins,” states a news release from the Regional District of Central Okanagan. “Registered attendees will be contacted with changes to the schedule and details of the COVID-19 safety plan for this event.”

The annual meteor shower peaks that night but can still be well seen from any dark place, smoky skies permitting.

The regional district suggests Johns Family Nature Conservancy, Black Mountain – sntsk’il’nten and Antlers Beach regional parks.
