Iconic Penticton burger joint Burger 55 announced on Facebook late Monday night, Dec. 9, that they were shutting down.

"To all of our Burger55 customers, we regret to inform that our last day of operation is on Dec. 31. If you have any gift cards with our names on them bring them in and enjoy your meal with us," a statement on their Facebook reads. "Thank you for your patronage. All the best in 2020."

Ronald Bee took over Burger 55 in Penticton last year and said he would be doing some renovations, but keep all the elements that made the business an institution amongst locals and tourists alike.

Burger 55 was featured on You Gotta Eat Here on the Food Network and was located at 52 Front St.
