Penticton RCMP have a man in custody, accused of pointing a gun at a woman last week.
The woman retrieved what she says was her stolen bike near Fairford Drive and Industrial Avenue on the morning of March 16, but a man retaliated before she could leave.
He pointed a firearm at her and she retreated to her vehicle, according to a Penticton RCMP news release. She managed to keep her bike, then called police from inside the vehicle.
Officers arrested a male suspect when they got to the scene. Police say they seized a replica handgun from him.
Anthony Muskego, 33, has been charged with pointing a firearm and remains in custody.
“The detail found in replica firearms sold today, being accurate to those of real ones, are of great concern for officers, as it makes it difficult to tell if they’re real or fake,” Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in the release.
“Due to the inherent risks, we want to stress, that should a member of the public believe they’ve spotted stolen property, call police and not approach and try to retrieve it themselves."
