Penticton resident wins big in Hometown Heroes lottery

The 2020 Hometown Heroes lottery has produced a Penticton winner.

The lottery identified M. Shaffer of Penticton as winner of a cash prize of $942,817.50 in the 50/50 Plus jackpot draw, which took place yesterday, Aug. 17.

E. Reimer of Summerland won in the Cars or Cash category, with the choice of a 2020 Harley-Davidson Softail or 2020 Honda Civic FIT LX, or $22,000 cash.

J. Martin of Kamloops won a $700 London Drugs gift card or $500 cash.

This year’s Hometown Heroes Lottery had more than 3,200 prizes up for grabs for a total of $3.5 million.

All proceeds raised in the lottery go toward Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital Foundation, and the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn fund.

This year’s grand prize winner was S. Ho of Vancouver, who won a choice of eight grand prize options, or $2.1 million in cash.
