PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are seeking witnesses to a hit and run that took place in the city last week, and they'd also like to talk to the person who was hit.

RCMP say in a media release a witness called police around 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, to report a woman had been struck by a vehicle at Nanaimo Avenue and Ellis Street.

A witness reported seeing a small grey car approach the intersection as a woman stepped onto the sidewalk. She was struck by the vehicle and the impact sent her over the hood of the car.

The vehicle was gone before emergency crews arrived at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital and later released with minor injuries, leaving the hospital before police had a chance to speak with her.

"We are wanting to also speak with the pedestrian who was struck and encourage her to contact us," RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in the release.

The Penticton RCMP are also requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 250-492-4300.
