Penticton RCMP deal with intoxicated individuals over the Christmas weekend

PENTICTON - Two incidents involved intoxicated people kept RCMP in Penticton busy on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment block at 900 Fairview Rd. after someone pepper sprayed the hallway on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

The person reporting the incident was found at the scene, extremely intoxicated on drugs, Wrigglesworth says. He was uncooperative with police and did not make much sense when questioned. Police arrested the original complainant for public intoxication and held hime until he sobbered up.

On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, RCMP responded to a fight on Hastings Avenue. Wrigglesworth says officers arrived on scene to find several neighbours fighting in a backyard. One of those present had brought a baseball bat to the fray.

Wrigglesworth says police were able to resolve the matter and the intoxicated individuals went home to bed.
