PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are hoping to enhance their ability to provide real-time police information and public safety updates through use of social media.
The detachment will supplement its website by also providing news and community initiative updates via Twitter.
“Our ability to communicate directly with citizens will foster stronger community engagement and timely public safety information being released,” media officer Const. James Grandy said in a media release issued today, Oct. 29.
The Penticton detachment has also set up a general enquiries email address for the public to ask general questions, he says. The Twitter and email address will not be monitored 24-hours a day and anyone requiring immediate assistance are advised to call 911.
The Penticton RCMP public email address is penticton.general.enquiries@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. You can find its website at penticton.bc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca and the Twitter handle is @PentictonRCMP.
