PENTICTON - Penticton’s latest round of pool problems appear to be coming to an end.
The city says the Penticton Community Centre Pool’s hot tub will reopen Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The hot tub shut down Sept. 21 after leaks were discovered in a supply pipe that had sustained damage while drain reinforcement work was being performed earlier this summer.
Crews have since been able to access and repair the pipe and have re-poured concrete to seal the area, according to a media release from the city. The concrete will need some time to cure, after which time the hot tub can be refilled, heated and opened for public use.
All repairs were made at the contractor’s cost.
All other facilities in the community centre, including the main pools, have been unaffected by the hot tub issues.
The city has had its share of problems with the pool, including drain leaks in the main pools which resulted in an extended summer shutdown this year.
