Penticton photographer Shaun Kennedy helped provide a memorable experience for Penticton high school graduates last weekend.

He was asked to photograph the students posing around the Munson Mountain sign in Penticton.

Kennedy, who operates Moments Under Frame Studios, says he was interested in helping out, calling it “a pretty cool idea to be a part of.”

“When I was told what it was about, there was no way that we wanted to charge for it. These kids aren’t going to get a real graduation,” he says. “We ruled out a drone because of the legal issues flying them. We just thought it was unsafe.”

They opted to use a helicopter instead.

As he and the pilot flew towards Munson Mountain on Saturday, May 30, he says he was impressed with both the speedy organization and the number of students gathered there.

“As we flew towards it, the pilot and I were getting almost emotional. Not only were they all there, they were keeping the proper social distancing on the sign. What a feat,” he says.
