The Penticton Peach has a new look just in time for Halloween.
The iconic peach on Okanagan Lake along Lakeshore Drive in Penticton — known for selling delicious ice cream creations in the summer months — has been transformed into a pumpkin.
"The Peach tries to celebrate and gets dressed up for almost every occasion in Penticton and this is our fifth decoration of making the Peach into a pumpkin," The Peach Ice Cream Shop owner Diana Stirling said. "It comes from really just wanting to put a smile on people's face in Penticton."
Local artist Johann Wessels has been involved in a number of projects with the owners, who decorate The Peach for different seasons, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day and others.
Wessels said he works with the owner to create an idea and they allow him "a bit of poetic freedom to come up with something."
It takes him about an hour or two to decorate based on the complexity of the design.
You can see more of Wessels work at Upper Bench Winery, Howling Bluff Estate Winery and Elephant Island Winery.
