Penticton fire department puts out two structure fires

The Penticton Fire Department was able to contain a fire at a residence on the Penticton Indian Band early this morning, Dec. 23, 2019.

Penticton firefighters have had a busy morning as they responded to two structure fires.

Deputy Fire Chief Chris Forster says the department was called to the Grenada Motor Inn around 5:48 a.m., Dec. 23, to find a fire in a single unit at the motel.

He says the unit suffered smoke and water damage and is currently under investigation by members of the RCMP and the fire department. No injuries were reported.

The department was also called to the Penticton Indian Band to a location between the airport and the Channel Parkway around 7:40 a.m. where they found a fire at a residence there.

Forster says the fire was knocked down quickly and one resident was treated for injuries on site.

The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this point.
