Penticton firefighters are trying to turn the down the heat this week by throwing down a challenge for a water fight.

“Challenging all kids!” Penticton Fire Chief Larry Watkinson Tweeted yesterday, July 26.

“Bring your best water gun, bucket, and be prepared to get (wet).”

The local firefighters will be attending the battle with a ladder truck, which will hoist an aerial boom for a big spray down.

"The kids absolutely lose their minds on it, they love it," Watkinson said.  "There will be low pressures of course, we don't hurt anybody."

The idea came about last year during the heat dome, and when public activities were limited due to COVID.

As long as an emergency does not occur, the fight is happening on July 28 at 6 p.m. at Penticton High School.

There will be spare water guns spares available and drinking water provided.
