PENTICTON - Penticton pool users will have to head to the beach for a swim once again this summer.
City of Penticton Communications Officer Tina Lee says the pool will be closed from Saturday, July 30 to Sunday, Sept. 11 for regular maintenance. The seasonal shutdown will be extended from three to six weeks for additional work.
Lee says additional maintenance this year includes reinforcement of the pool’s hot tub drains in addition to inspection and possible maintenance of the main pool’s drains.
The work is precautionary in nature and will see new concrete drains replace existing fibreglass drains. Lee says the work will not result in additional cost to the city, and pro-rated refunds or credits on accounts are available to those with annual or monthly pool passes.
The pool was also closed for an extended period of time last summer in order to replace defective pool tiles.
