Penticton businessman offers $500 for best lemonade stand contest

Rupert the dog is excited about the lemonade stand contest in Penticton.

A Penticton businessman wants to sweeten the deal for a local lemonade entrepreneur this summer.

In the spirit of promoting entrepreneurialism among children, a prize of $500 cash was collected to celebrate the city's most extraordinary lemonade stand.

The idea for a lemonade stand contest came from Warren Lee of Warren Lee Contracting. He found himself feeling parched on a hot day, and a couple of youngsters happened to be selling the perfect remedy – some ice-cold lemonade.

So as a fellow entrepreneur, and a lover of lemonade, Lee wants to make this summer even brighter for those in the business of citrus.

The contest is active until June 29, the winning lemonade stand will be chosen by Lee and announced in July, date undetermined. Children can enter by having their parents send a photo of their stand and a brief description to dwalton@infonews.ca. Contestants have to live in Penticton to be eligible to win.

The prize pool was able to reach $500 thanks to donations from Beverley Lee, Mike Thom, Dean Garnett, Curtis Tuchalt, Phil Bedard, Debra Formo, S+S Hardwood, Ritch Hobden, Rocku Buksa and Jason Reynen.
