PENTICTON - A Penticton business hopes to add a new dimension to the city’s list of things to do as it approaches council seeking to alter their liquor license.
The Roll N Stones Fun Centre (Sun Country Lanes) is seeking a change to their liquor primary license hours from 11 a.m. to 11p.m. Sunday to Saturday to 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.
In support of her application to council, new owner Melissa Kobe said in a letter to council her customers have been telling her for three years there is a lack of things to do for entertainment in Penticton.
Kobe is in the process of renovating the bowling alley to become a “more fully encompassing fun centre” for families by adding darts, billiards, arcade games and indoor mini golf.
The facility’s present liquor license only covers part of the building, and Kobe would like to expand it to the whole building.
Changing the license’s operating hours would enable the facility to host tournaments and give the business the flexibility to stay open later if customer demand is there.
The business, located at 1035 Westminster Ave. West, is located in a mixed residential, motel and commercial area. The public consultation process would include comments from neighbouring residents.
Staff are recommending council start the public notification process for the proposed changes to the liquor licence with the results coming back to council at its July 3 meeting.
