PENTICTON - Penticton will benefit from an additional 35 residential care beds following announcement today of an Interior Health contract to two service providers in the community.

Contracts were awarded June 30 to Good Samaritan Canada for 18 complex care beds and to H& H Total Care Services Inc. for an additional 17 beds, according to an Interior Health Authority media release. The two care providers currently have facilities in Penticton.

Interior Health issued request for proposals last September for a total of 243 beds throughout the Interior Health region.

H&H chief administrator Andre Van Ryk says The Hamlets facility in Penticton was thankful of the opportunity to expand its partnership with Interior Health.

“We have been collaborating with Interior Health on many different initiatives, such as specific First Nation programming, and this added support will enable our team to further improve the quality of life of those in our care,” Van Ryk says in the release.

Good Samaritan Canada president and CEO Shawn Terlson says they were thrilled to be able to expand their facilty at Village By the Station to provide additional support to the community.

“Providing quality health, community care services, and accommodation to aging individuals in need is a top priority for our organization as a registered charity,” Terlson says in the release.

Penticton’s new residential care beds are expected to open in the fall of 2018.
