A man is in the hospital after he was hit by a vehicle earlier this week while crossing at an intersection in Salmon Arm.

Salmon Arm RCMP and paramedics arrived at a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Shuswap St. NE in Salmon Arm, Feb. 16, at roughly 8:50 a.m., according to an RCMP press release.

A man was crossing against the pedestrian signal and a turning vehicle on an advanced green signal could not see the man and hit him in the intersection.

The 67-year-old Salmon Arm resident sustained serious head and lower extremity injuries and is now in hospital. His family has been notified, RCMP said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old Salmon Arm resident, remained at the scene and was co-operative with police.

No criminal charges are being investigated at this time, RCMP said.
