Peachfest underway in Penticton

Thirty Minute Hit led early in the final race, but lost to the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in the second annual Peach Bin Race held today during the first day of festivities for the 68th annual Peachfest.

PENTICTON - Penticton’s five-day long Peachfest got underway this morning with the second annual Peach Bin Race taking place in the 100-block of the downtown core.

Teams of four raced 'customized' peach bins in the event, sponsored by the Downtown Penticton Association.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, first time competitors, prevailed in the final heat against 30 Minute Hit.

The Westcoast Lumberjack Show has two performances on Wednesday, one at 2:05 p.m., the other at 5:15 p.m., in Okanagan Lake Park.

The Snowbirds take to the skies for an aerial acrobatic performance at 6 p.m. this evening, followed by the first live performance of this year’s festival, Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts. They take to the stage in Okanagan Lake Park, starting at 9:15 p.m.
