A six-week-old kitten abandoned in a forested area near Victoria is currently in the care of the BC SPCA waiting for eye surgery.

When Paris the kitten was found by a passerby, she was immediately taken to the BC SPCA's animal centre in Victoria, according to a media release issued today, Oct. 13.

“This tiny kitten came in with a severe eye injury and possible infection and was immediately brought to a veterinarian,” Emma Hamill with the SPCA said in the release. “She must have been in so much pain.”

Because of her injury, the kitten is on pain medication and antibiotics as she waits to have eye removal surgery.

“She's a very sweet kitten whose trauma and impaired vision is not dimming her shine at all,” Hamill said. “She's living with her BC SPCA alumni foster brother Arthur, who is showing her the way. He had to have a limb amputated and is now a beautiful tripod kitty.”

Petsecure Health Insurance, supported by the Definity Insurance Foundation, has agreed to match any donations going towards Paris’ medical bill and other animals in need of urgent medical help up to $3,000. In other words, any donation made will be doubled by the company.

Once Paris has recovered from her surgery, she'll be available for adoption.

Visit the BC SPCA website here to make a donation.
