A 47-year-old Vernon man is behind bars after the owner of a stolen pickup used the vehicle’s GPS to track it earlier this week.
The pickup was stolen overnight Oct. 14 from a business in Vernon and the theft was reported to police the next morning, according to an RCMP media release.
The vehicle was located on Westside by the owner who was tracking it using GPS. The owner continued to track the pickup, passing on the location information to police.
An RCMP helicopter was called in to assist the officers on the ground who intercepted the vehicle on Powerhouse Road in Spallumcheen.
The drive was arrested and taken into custody.
A 47-year-old Vernon man remains in custody facing a number of criminal charges.
