Out-of-town teen assaulted by stranger in Kamloops backyard

Police are hoping the pubic can help identify and locate the man who assaulted a teenager in a Kamloops backyard this past weekend.

Officers were called to a report of an assault at around 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in a backyard at a home in the 900 block of Nerview Drive.

A teenager had been assaulted by a stranger, RCMP said. The teen’s injuries were minor.

“The teenager was visiting family from out of town and it’s unknown why the stranger entered the yard, then physically assaulted the youth before running away,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a media release issued today, June 19.

“Police officers conducted neighbourhood patrols and inquiries, but were unable to identify a suspect.”

RCMP describe the suspect as a Caucasian male, heavyset, with old blisters or cuts on his knuckles. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans with white paint stains around the shins.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-18434.
