KAMLOOPS – Fire crews were surprised to be called to a brush fire in Kamloops early this morning given the time of year and the weather lately.

Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Capt. Rob Chalmers says firefighters spent about an hour putting out a brush fire in the Bachelor Heights area at about 2:50 a.m. today, Nov. 25.

Chalmers says while he doesn’t know exactly how big the blaze was, firefighters were surprised by the size of the fire based on the cool, wet weather lately.

The fire was in an area off Lac de Bois Road just north of the residential area where there are often bush parties and he says it was likely caused by a fire left unattended that spread into the brush.
