Ontario man wanted on attempted murder charges arrested in Kelowna

February 03, 2021 - 3:04 PM

An Ontario man currently wanted on attempted murder charges was arrested by the Kelowna RCMP last night.

The RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team were deployed to assist Kelowna RCMP, Feb. 2, when they learned a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant out of Sudbury, Ontario may be in Kelowna, according an RCMP press release.

An investigation led police to believe the man was inside a house in the 300 block of Mallach Road in the city's Rutland neighbourhood. Police officers contained the area around the home, and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team was called in to assist out of an abundance of caution.

“The suspect, 30-year-old Adrian Eppinger, was taken into custody without incident,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, media liaison with the Kelowna RCMP, in the press release. “He has been brought before the courts and will be returned to Ontario as soon as possible.”

The warrant is for three charges of attempted murder, extortion, criminal harassment, and assault with a weapon, according to the RCMP.

The Kelowna RCMP are not releasing further information on the incident at this time.
