Online 'one-stop shop' launches in Kamloops for families looking to register for sports

The Kamloops Sports Council has launched a website to coordinate sports and events into one easy-to-use platform.

YKA Now will act as a hub for scheduling, registration and ticketing for Kamloops events, simplifying the process as events and sports start kicking off again.

“Over the years, we’ve recognized a real demand for one place where families can go to coordinate their activities. Do hockey tryouts conflict with the soccer season? Can dance classes be worked around volunteering for an upcoming event?” Henry Pejril, Kamloops Sports Council president, said in a news release.

The local non-profit's platform currently hosts registration details for events like Boogie the Bridge and sports leagues like the Kamloops Volleyball Association.

“As event organizers, we understand the importance of registration, ticketing and scheduling systems to ensure a well-run event or activity. These needs and a real opportunity to support all local activities - whether with the community, sports, arts, or culture – led us to create YKA Now," Perjil said.

Organizations like Kamloops Sunrays, Kamloops Minor Lacrosse Association and the Kamloops Rugby Club can already be found on the platform, along with registration for programs like Kamloops NorthPaws camps and TRU fitness classes.

But not all local sports organizations are currently on the platform. The non-profit is encouraging others to sign up their leagues or events.

"We are committed to making this the 'one-stop shop' for all activities in Kamloops. It’s our mandate to support local organizations. If your group is planning an event, give us a try," he said.
