OSOYOOS - A two-vehicle collision in the South Okanagan has resulted in a single fatality.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. today, Feb. 8, near Road 21 in Osoyoos, according to an RCMP media release.
Osoyoos RCMP responded to the scene where they found a northbound Chevrolet Cavalier had struck a southbound Chevrolet Sonic.
A 24-year-old man in the Cavalier was pronounced dead at the scene. A 26-year-old woman and a 10-month-old infant, also in the vehicle, are being treated in hospital and are reported in stable condition.
The 62-year-old Sonic driver is also being treated for minor injuries.
All occupants are Osoyoos residents.
Highway 97 is closed at the accident scene and is expected to remain so for several hours. There is alternating lane or detour traffic flow on Road 21 at this time.
The crash is under investigation but it is believed winter road conditions are a contributing factor, RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said in the release.
Anyone who might have witnessed the crash or who may posses dash camera footage are asked to contact Const. Mark Fulton at RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services at 250-499-2250.
