The IGA on Prairie Valley Road in Summerland sold a winning Lotto 649 ticket to a local woman last month.
The lucky purchaser was Lindalie Dansereau. She was sipping on her coffee one morning when she discovered that her ticket had won $1 million on the April 6 draw.
“I had set the ticket aside and checked it while having coffee one morning,” she said in a press release. “I had to read the numbers twice. I was stunned.”
Dansereau broke the news to her husband.
“I told him, ‘I think I won’ and he thought it was a late April Fools’ joke. Next, I called our kids to share the news with them and they were so excited.”

Dansereau still hasn’t celebrated and says the win hasn’t even sunk in yet.
“It still doesn’t feel real. I’m still stunned.”
However she is planning on travelling and sharing some of the winnings with her husband and children.
“I’m so excited. I can really enjoy retirement now.”
Last year, more than $99 million was won from Lotto 6/49 in B.C.
