A Surry bus driver has just scooped $18.7 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw.
Bus driver Nang (Paul) Trinh was having his family over for dinner when he decided to check his ticket on the B.C. LC app.
He then heard the winning music.
"I noticed there were a lot of zeros, so I asked my dad how much the jackpot was," Trinh said in a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release issued today, April 12. "He said it was $18.7 million. I checked it a bunch of times and then I realized I won.
"It’s a dream come true," Trinh said. "I always thought about it, but never thought I would win."
Trinh said there was a lot of "jumping up and down" when he shared the news with his family.
He now plans to retire early and take vacations in Japan and China. He's also looking forward to spending more time with his children, as well as playing more tennis.
Trinh says he'll gift some of the prize to his family and treat everyone to a celebratory dinner.
According to B.C. LC, in 2021 British Columbians won more than $90 million in winning from Lotto 6/49.
Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. and each draw includes a guaranteed prize draw of $1 million.
