One dead in mobile home fire in Osoyoos

RCMP have confirmed a body was found after crews had put out a mobile home fire in Osoyoos early this morning.

Osoyoos Fire and Rescue and Osoyoos RCMP responded at around 6:30 a.m. today, Jan. 19, to a mobile home fire at the Avalon Mobile Home Park on Main Street, according to an RCMP press release.

RCMP said first responders arrived on the scene quickly, but the fire had already engulfed the mobile home.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this most difficult time,” Penticton RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Jason Bayda said in the release. “The BC Coroners Service has been engaged and is conducting their own concurrent fact-finding investigation.”

RCMP are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but say the fire does not appear suspicious.

Police did not identity of the deceased.
