Oliver man killed in weekend crash

FILE PHOTO- Oliver RCMP were called to a fatal collision involving a 28 year old Oliver man early Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2018.

OLIVER - An Oliver man died in a single-vehicle crash in the South Okanagan on the weekend.

Oliver RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Christina Tarasoff says in a press release police responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 4300 block of Highway 97 at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30.

The Oliver Fire Department also attended the collision and found the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, trapped inside.

The 28-year-old Oliver man was extricated by firefighters, who performed life saving efforts, Tarasoff says. He could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the crash continues with a collision analyst and reconstructionist working to determine the cause.

It was the second fatal collision in the South Okanagan this past weekend, following a rollover that took the life of a 17-year-old Olalla man earlier Sunday morning on Upper Bench Road near Keremeos.
