Oliver hospital closing emergency department Sunday night

Interior Health says Oliver General Hospital's emergency department will close for a period on the weekend.

OLIVER - The South Okanagan General Hospital is facing another emergency closure.

Interior Health says the hospital’s emergency department will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20 due to a doctor shortage.

Residents needing emergency care are being advised to call 9-1-1 or visit the emergency department at Penticton Regional Hospital.

The health authority further advises residents to call HealthLink B.C. at 8-1-1 if they are unsure about their need to visit an emergency department.

The hospital’s emergency department has been closed in the past due to a doctor shortage.
