PENTICTON - Oliver firefighters spent part of Saturday evening battling a garage fire in the community.
Oliver Fire Department media spokesperson Rob Graham says the hall received a call at around 10:30 p.m., April 2, for a garage fire just off Number 2 Road.
Firefighters arrived to find a garage fully involved. Flames from the burning building also ignited a nearby shed, and singed part of a house located approximately 30 feet away.
“It’s a good thing the house had a stucco exterior,” Graham says, adding approximately 20 firefighters were on scene for a couple of hours mopping up after knocking it down within 30 to 45 minutes of their arrival.
He says no injuries were reported in the blaze, which is of undetermined origin at this point in the investigation.
The badly damaged garage had been used to store machinery, he says.
