Skies over Kamloops and the Okanagan glowed purple and green last night

The Northern Lights as seen from Cartwright Mountain in Summerland last night.

The skies were clear and the moon was down when the Aurora Borealis appeared over the Okanagan last night.

From this far south, last night's Northern Lights show may have seemed like light pollution to the naked eye, but a long exposure photograph can reveal far more colour.

Forecasts were predicting strong levels of solar activity for this week, and tonight's forecast – for July 23-24 – is expected to be 9 out of 10, according to AuroraForecast.com

"Active aurora possible with slight chance of isolated minor auroral substorms and favourable conditions for major aurora activity," reads the forecast for tonight.

Did you capture any photos of the Northern Lights this week? We'd love to see them and share them. Send to dwalton@infonews.ca.
