KELOWNA – A goal in the final minute of play extended the Okanagan Rockets winning steak to a season high six games.
The Rockets defeated the North Island Silvertips 3 – 2 on Sunday at Capital News Centre in game two of the series.
The Silvertips made life difficult for the Rockets squad that lost their leading scorer Tyson Jost before the opening puck drop to injury.
Linden Hora stepped up in the match, netting two, including one at :55 seconds in the third period.
Reid Kilburn improved to 5 – 1 – 0 in net, stopping 23 shots by North Island.
During Saturday’s match-up the Rockets would score five goals in the third period to cruise to a 6 – 2 victory over the Silvertips.
Three of the goals were scored in a span of 53 seconds.
The Okanagan Rockets are now 9 – 0 – 1 on the season and move into sole possession of first place in the BCMML standings.
The Rockets will hit the road this upcoming weekend with games against the South Island Royals in Victoria.
