KELOWNA - MLAs Norm Letnick and Steve Thomson agreed to share some of their favourite Christmas holidays and traditions with infoNEWS.CA.

NORM LETNICK

Letnick says his favourite game to play is hide the turkey (by eating it) while his favourite song is Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant and his favourite movie is It’s a Wonderful Life

Letnick says opening presents is his favourite Christmas tradition, but mostly because he gets two from everyone.

“My birthday is Dec. 23 so I get double share,” he says.

Letnick is looking forward to celebrating Christmas even more this year, as they will have a new member of the family to celebrate with.

“This year we get to celebrate Christmas with our first grandchild and our children’s grandmother will also be here,” he says.

STEVE THOMSON

Thomson plays Snakes and Ladders and Yahtzee and prefers Little Drummer Boy for music and A Christmas Carol is his favourite movie.

On Christmas morning Thomson enjoys his mom’s sausage rolls and turkey is an annual tradition in their homes.

One tradition that Thomson and his family have done for years is Christmas stockings over the fireplace and endless requests to open just one present early. He says that still persists to this day.

Thomson grew up on a dairy farm so they had to wait in the living room for their father to finish milking the cows and return from the long walk from the barn.

“He always stopped part way to have a cigarette, driving us crazy in anticipation,” he says. “I know that was intentional.”
