Central and North Okanagan communities have some of the cheapest gas in the province right now as the Lower Mainland continues to break gas price records.

The cheapest gas for B.C. currently goes to a Tempo location in Farmington, northern B.C. with $1.859 cents per litre. The second cheapest place to find gas is at Canco in Clearwater, Tempo in Enderby and Super Save in Vernon, all with $1.879 cents per litre for regular fuel, according to Gas Buddy, a Canada gas tracker.

The Kamloops Costco location also is one of the top 10 cheapest spots in B.C., with $1.889. The Kelowna Costco location was also listed a cent higher with  $1.899 cents per litre.

Centrax in Vernon also made the list with $1.909 per litre and Parkway Gas in Lake Country with $1.929.

Gas in the Lower Mainland has reached well past two dollars per litre, with locations ranging from $2.196 in Burnaby $2.279 in Metro Vancouver, setting the highest gas price ever reached in B.C.

Figures on the GasBuddy showed the national average price of regular gas reached $1.95 per litre on Saturday afternoon, with provincial averages reaching $2.15 in Newfoundland and Labrador and $2.11 in British Columbia.

Drivers in Vancouver could see prices as high as $2.34 per litre at the pumps.

"These are mind-numbing, eye-popping prices that ... is probably not sustainable for most Canadians on fixed incomes/middle class," Gas Wizard analyst Dan McTeague, also president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, said on Saturday to The Canadian Press.

"I think it's fair to say most Canadians are taking a pounding on this and it's not the ones who drive for kicks and giggles, it's the ones that need this to get to work.... And it will be long term."
